I LOVE ice cream. But if you need to shed the pounds, it's often frowned upon and seen as too much sugar, too much junk and too many calories. I regularly enjoy ice cream and this is how I do it:
The caveat. I have kindergarteners running around. To say No Ice Cream in the house is just down-right mean. Problem is, it fits into my own category of what I've dubbed "Heroin Food". So called because it's a food that is equivalent to handing heroin to an addict and telling them NOT to use. My mouth says no, but somehow, it still gets devoured despite the negative benefits. So what I do is reduce each meal throughout the day by 100 calories. This frees up 300 by the time I eat dinner. Then it's game on! Here's my recipe to a satisfying cheat that that won't cost you pounds if done right.
Portion control is important.
Any flavor is fine.
Eat in the afternoon and NEVER after 8pm.
1/4 cup of Ice Cream - 220 cals
1/2 sliced banana - 70 Cals
3 sliced Strawberries - 24 Cals
Sprinkles - 25 cals.
That's one full bowl of ice cream and fruit for a total of 339 calories. Some may think, "Oh my God that's calorie dense!" And yes, it is. But if you plan for it, you too can eat it almost every day and still see your weight drop. I eat this treat 5 times a week and I'm averaging 1.5lbs loss per week. Enjoy.
