My Story

i underwent the lapband surgery in march of 09 in greenville nc. the surgeon was wonderful and still continues to be supportive in my goal weight. i developed fibromyalgia at some point. having the muscle spasms and constant migraines i contributed to a ruptured disc in the c7 was actually the fibro causing most of the pain. the issue with the herniated c7 was fixable in hopes that the pain would get better and i can get back to working out as intense as i started out. when my dr told me i had fibro i was devastated knowing the pain would never go away, it will decrease but the flare ups will come and go. i have been struggling with not over doing tasks to prevent the pain and spasms. it has not been easy decreasing my workout. it feels like someone is teaching you how to walk when you know how to run. it is a process and getting back to where i was is a battle. i have to get back to counting my calories more often. lessening my calorie intake according to my activities. winter is the hardest for me.

My Goals For This Year:

i started out at 255 and am now at 208, i was at 196 and so im up some from about 6 months ago. now that i know what i am doing wrong, i have to level out the calories verses the activites to my goal weight of 144

I was happy to add you as a friend and read you story. (please let me know how you found me to add as a friend as I have just found this site and don't know how to find other members! I'm not so good at figuring out new websites!)
I liked reading about you because it made me feel better about the things I have been going through in my own life. It helped me feel not so alone. I to have been told I have fibromyalgia (whitch was really hard and still is to deal with) I also have "DDD" degenerative disc disease, a lower lumbar heriated disc. All of these things have contributed to gaining 60+ pounds in the last year and a half, and now contributing to making it diffecult to now take it off. If you would like to share your journey of trying to loose wieght, I would like to share mine as we have some things in common. Thank u

i love to walk but it is so hard for me to do in the winter. but i am going to press onward. that you so much for the encouragement, i am going to look in to the cost of a membership at the Y. i was reluctant because i know it can get costly for families. i am on my way to the gym on base now. how much do you have to loose to reach your goal? it feels good to get up and take time out to know what i am eating and how i am going to burn my calories for that day. i miss doing cardio it was awesome burning 2800 cal a day. my dr told me to do cardio and i found that the high my heart rate the more calories i burn. that is how i lost the first 40 lbs. your right taking baby steps now is what i have to do. i see now that waiting another day to start will turn in to another year of time lost. i guess that is why i decided to work on finding what my limits are in exercise. the neurotin makes me very sleepy during the day so i have to take one around 5 and one about 11 when i go to the gym.i think that is the most frustrating thing, taking the meds that reduce the pain, i hate taking pills. :D

You are doing a great job. It must be difficult having fibromyalgia. If you need to talk please email me anytime. Each day you accomplish those little goals (even stretching) is another day of goals met.

Take baby steps, an listen to your body. Water exercises are really easy on the body. Walking if you can manage a little is best for anyone at any fitness level.
