Hello, my son is suffering from a kind of gum disease. I am in doubt whether this is gingivitis. We have tried some home remedies for this. Regularly, I make him gargle with salt water. This can prevent the bad smell up to an extent. But, I am worried whether his teeth are elongating. Is this a symptom of periodontitis? I have seen the severity of this disease. My grandma had this condition earlier. I am worried whether this is the initial stage of periodontitis. Anyways, I am planning to take him to a dentist. We are consulting a dentist in Ajax, Dr. Mitchel Shields for our dental problems. So, I am planning to take him there. But, my sister told me to take him to a periodontist. I think it is better to take him to our family dentist, he will refer to the periodontist if needed. But before taking the appointment, I would like to know whether this condition is completely curable. What all precautions we can take at home to prevent this? If anybody knows about this, please help me with your replies.
